Root Word Approach

हर बार नए शब्द रटना थका देता है। इसके बजाय, शब्द की जड़ (root) पकड़ो। Latin और Greek roots से हजारों English शब्द बने हैं। इन्हें एक बार समझ लो तो unfamiliar शब्दों के विलोम भी निकल आते हैं।

Prefix से बने विलोम:

| Prefix | अर्थ | उदाहरण | |--------|------|---------| | un- | नहीं | Happy → Unhappy | | in-/im-/il-/ir- | नहीं | Adequate → Inadequate, Possible → Impossible | | dis- | विपरीत | Agree → Disagree, Honest → Dishonest | | non- | रहित | Violent → Nonviolent | | anti- | विरुद्ध | Social → Antisocial |

(Quality & State):

Light"

जब question में word context दिया हो (जैसे sentence में) तो हमेशा context पढ़कर जवाब दो। जब isolated word हो तो most common meaning का विलोम चुनो।

Synonym-Antonym confusion

eliminationPositive-Negative Polarity Test

जब antonym पूछा जाए और given word का tone तुम्हें पता हो — positive या negative — तो उसी के विपरीत polarity वाला option चुनो। "Lenient" (positive/permissive tone) → Strict (negative/restrictive tone) चुनो। Lenient जैसे दिखने वाले options (जैसे Tolerant, Permissive) automatically eliminate हो जाते हैं।

Standard method: सभी options के अर्थ याद करो → 45 seconds। Polarity Test: given word का tone identify करो + opposite polarity options में से सबसे strong choose करो → 15 seconds।

patternRoot Prefix Reversal

जिन शब्दों में negative prefix (in-, un-, dis-, ir-, im-) लगा हो, उनका antonym अक्सर वह base word होता है जो prefix हटाने पर बचता है। "Inadvertent" → in- (not) + advertent → advertent का मतलब intentional/deliberate। इसलिए antonym = Intentional।

यह trick तब काम करती है जब दिए गए options में base word या उसका synonym हो। Standard method: meaning रटो → 3+ शब्द याद करने की ज़रूरत। Root method: एक pattern सीखो → 50+ शब्दों पर apply होता है।

patternExtreme Word Pairing

अगर given word किसी extreme behavior को दर्शाता है (जैसे Extravagant, Verbose, Arrogant), तो उसका antonym उस behavior की complete absence या opposite extreme होगा (Frugal, Concise, Humble)। "अति" वाले शब्दों के विलोम "संतुलन या विपरीत अति" वाले शब्द होते हैं।

Moderate words जैसे options (थोड़ा-बहुत वाले) automatically eliminate हो जाते हैं — decision 20 seconds में हो जाता है।

patternInitiate-Conclude Family

कुछ शब्द "process की शुरुआत" दर्शाते हैं: Initiate, Begin, Commence, Launch, Inaugurate — इन सभी का antonym "process का अंत" दर्शाने वाला होगा: Finish, Conclude, End, Terminate, Complete। इन दोनों families को एक साथ याद करो। एक बार दोनों groups याद हो जाएं तो किसी भी combination का antonym 5 seconds में मिल जाएगा।

patternOptimistic-Pessimistic जैसे Mirror Pairs

Step 1 — Given word का meaning जानते हो?

Step 2 — Word में कोई prefix दिख रहा है?

Step 3 — Polarity Test

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2023
Choose the antonym of the word Capricious.
  1. mercurial
  2. variable
  3. mutable
  4. Stable
Solutionसमाधान
'Capricious' means impulsive and unpredictable. Its antonym is 'Stable', which means consistent and steady. The other options are synonyms of capricious.

क्यों यह प्रश्न: "Lenient" एक common adjective है जो authority और discipline के context में आता है। यह question इसलिए important है क्योंकि "Tolerant" और "Permissive" जैसे near-synonyms trap बन सकते हैं।

समाधान का रास्ता: Lenient = नरम, permissive। इसका opposite = Strict (कड़ा, demanding)। Positive polarity (Lenient) → Negative polarity (Strict)। Tolerant/Permissive given word के synonyms हैं, antonyms नहीं — eliminate।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2023
Select the most appropriate ANTONYM of the given word. LENIENT
  1. Strict
  2. Helpful
  3. Defensive
  4. Generous
Solutionसमाधान
'Lenient' means permissive or tolerant, so its antonym is 'Strict', meaning harsh or demanding.

क्यों यह प्रश्न: "Inadvertent" prefix-based trick का perfect example है। यह 2022 का question है और इस type के questions regularly आते हैं।

समाधान का रास्ता: in- (not) + advertent। "Advertent" का मतलब है attentive, mindful। तो Inadvertent = not mindful = accidental/unintentional। Antonym = Intentional (जान-बूझकर किया गया)। Root Prefix Reversal trick यहाँ directly apply होती है।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2022
Identify the word that is opposite in meaning of the word 'INADVERTENT'.
  1. intentional
  2. adequate
  3. negligent
  4. available

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2022
