A=Z+NA = Z + N

Neutrons की संख्या: N=AZN = A - Z

Atomic Nucleus

(Electronic Configuration)

| तत्त्व | Z | Configuration | Valence electrons | |---|---|---|---| | H | 1 | 1s11s^1 | 1 | | He | 2 | 1s21s^2 | 2 (पूर्ण) | | C | 6 | 1s22s22p21s^2\,2s^2\,2p^2 | 4 (tetravalent) | | N | 7 | 1s22s22p31s^2\,2s^2\,2p^3 | 5 | | O | 8 | 1s22s22p41s^2\,2s^2\,2p^4 | 6 | | Cl | 17 | 1s22s22p63s23p51s^2\,2s^2\,2p^6\,3s^2\,3p^5 | 7 |

| शब्द | परिभाषा | समान | भिन्न | उदाहरण | |---|---|---|---|---| | Isotopes (समस्थानिक) | एक ही तत्त्व के अलग-अलग mass के परमाणु | Z (protons) | A, N | {35}{17}Cl^\{35\}_\{17\}Cl और {37}{17}Cl^\{37\}_\{17\}Cl | | Isobars (समभारिक) | अलग-अलग तत्त्व जिनकी mass number समान | A | Z, N, electrons | {40}{18}Ar^\{40\}_\{18\}Ar और {40}{20}Ca^\{40\}_\{20\}Ca | | Isotones (समन्यूट्रॉनिक) | अलग-अलग तत्त्व जिनके neutrons की संख्या समान | N | Z, A | {14}{6}C^\{14\}_\{6\}C और {15}{7}N^\{15\}_\{7\}N (दोनों में N=8) |

Electrons in ion=Zcharge\text{Electrons in ion} = Z - \text{charge}

He, Ne, Ar, Kr, Xe, Rn — सब monoatomic हैं, diatomic नहीं।

patternIsobar vs Isotope: 'Bar' = भार = Mass

Isobar = same mass number (A)। Isotope = same element (same Z, different A)। Isotone = same neutrons (N)।

Electrons: Z ± charge formula

Electrons=Zatomsnet charge\text{Electrons} = \sum Z_{\text{atoms}} - \text{net charge}

Substitution formula — 8 seconds। 5-step process से 1-step में।

eliminationNoble Gas Trap: 'He is monoatomic, NOT diatomic'

इन्हें "Have No Fear Of Cold Beer Ice" mnemonic से याद करो।

जब भी "Chlorine has two stable isotopes" दिखे — यह सही statement है।

Nucleus

  • Electron: J.J. Thomson (1897) — cathode ray experiment।
  • Proton: Rutherford
  • Neutron: James Chadwick (1932)।

Z = protons = tत्त्व की पहचान, A = protons + neutrons।

चौथा option "He : Diatomic gas" — He noble gas है, monoatomic है, diatomic नहीं।

Previous Year Question
Which one of the following pairs is not correctly matched?
  1. Nitrogen : Three unpaired electrons
  2. Carbon : Tetravalent
  3. Chlorine : Two stable isotopes
  4. Helium : Diatomic gas
Solution
Nitrogen has electronic configuration 1s² 2s² 2p³, with three unpaired electrons in 2p orbitals — correctly matched. Carbon has four valence electrons and is tetravalent — correctly matched. Chlorine has two stable isotopes, Cl-35 and Cl-37 — correctly matched. Helium, however, is a noble gas that exists as monoatomic gas (single atoms), not as a diatomic molecule, because its valence shell (1s²) is fully filled. Therefore, the pair 'Helium : Diatomic gas' is not correctly matched.

Previous Year Question
In isobars of elements
  1. atomic numbers are equal.
  2. the number of electrons is equal.
  3. mass numbers are equal.
  4. the number of neutrons is equal.
Solution
Isobars are atoms of different elements that have the same mass number (A) but different atomic numbers (Z). For example, ⁴⁰Ar (Z=18) and ⁴⁰Ca (Z=20) are isobars — both have mass number 40, but different atomic numbers, electron counts, and neutron counts. Atoms with equal atomic numbers (and hence equal electrons) are isotopes (same element), while atoms with equal numbers of neutrons are called isotones.

समाधान का रास्ता: Gold foil + alpha particle + back scattering = nucleus। Answer: Atomic nucleus।

Previous Year Question
Rutherford's α-particle scattering experiment on gold foil is responsible for the discovery of:
  1. Neutron
  2. Electron
  3. Proton
  4. Atomic nucleus
Solution
Rutherford's alpha particle scattering experiment on a thin gold foil (1909-1911) led to the discovery of the atomic nucleus. In this experiment, most alpha particles passed straight through the gold foil, but a few were deflected at large angles and a very small number bounced back. This led Rutherford to conclude that an atom has a tiny, dense, positively charged center (nucleus) containing most of its mass, with electrons revolving around it in mostly empty space. The electron was discovered by J.J. Thomson (1897), the proton by Rutherford (later, in 1917 through a different experiment), and the neutron by James Chadwick (1932).

Answer: 1, 2, 2, 15।

Previous Year Question
Number of electrons present in the species H2+, He, H2 and O2+ respectively are:
  1. 1, 2, 2, 15
  2. 1, 2, 1, 14
  3. 2, 2, 2, 16
  4. 0, 2, 1, 14
Solution
H2+ is a hydrogen molecular ion with 2 protons (2 H atoms) but with one electron removed, so it has 1 electron. He (helium atom) has 2 electrons. H2 (hydrogen molecule) has 2 hydrogen atoms each contributing 1 electron, giving a total of 2 electrons. O2+ is the oxygen molecular cation with 2 oxygen atoms (8 electrons each = 16 total) minus one electron removed to form the cation, giving 15 electrons. Therefore, the number of electrons are 1, 2, 2, and 15 respectively, matching option (a).
