CDS अंग्रेज़ी: वाक्य में शब्दों का क्रम और वाक्य निर्माण

intermediate 18 min read

Subject → Verb → Object/Complement → Modifier

  1. Subject (कर्ता): वाक्य किसके बारे में है — "the automobile industry", "sociological theories", "most social movements"
  2. Main Verb (मुख्य क्रिया): Subject क्या करता है — "has witnessed", "distinguish", "tend to be"
  3. Object / Complement: क्रिया का परिणाम या विशेषण — "impressive growth", "social movements"
  4. Modifiers: कब, कहाँ, कैसे — "in India", "during the last two decades", "along two axes"

PQRS प्रश्नों में इन चारों में से कोई एक टुकड़ा "anchor" होता है — वह जिसमें Subject + Main Verb दोनों हों। यही anchor पहला या दूसरा टुकड़ा होगा।

Anchor ढूँढ़ने की विधि

Step 1: चारों टुकड़ों को स्कैन करो। जिसमें Subject + Finite Verb (conjugated verb) दिखे, वह anchor है।

Step 2: अगर कोई टुकड़ा conjunction से शुरू होता है ("although", "and", "or", "but") — वह पहला टुकड़ा नहीं हो सकता। वह हमेशा किसी और के बाद आएगा।

Step 3: अगर कोई टुकड़ा preposition या article से शुरू होता है ("in", "the", "a") — वह या तो subject है या modifier। दोनों में से पहले subject को रखो।

Step 4: जो टुकड़ा किसी noun phrase को अधूरा छोड़ता है — जैसे "to give voice to the demands" — उसके तुरंत बाद वह टुकड़ा आएगा जो उस phrase को पूरा करे ("and needs of the people")।

Connectors और Parallel Structure

कुछ शब्द तुम्हें sequence की दिशा तुरंत बता देते हैं:

Appositive की पहचान

CDS के प्रश्नों में अक्सर एक टुकड़ा appositive होता है — यानी Subject को और स्पष्ट करने वाला वाक्यांश। जैसे:

"in India, the automobile industry (P) one of the largest industries (Q) has witnessed impressive (S) growth during the last two decades (R)"

यहाँ Q एक appositive है — वह P के तुरंत बाद आता है, Subject और Verb के बीच। इसे पहचानने की कसौटी: क्या इसे हटाने पर बाकी वाक्य अभी भी grammatically correct रहता है? अगर हाँ, तो वह appositive है।

Relative Clause और Complement

कुछ टुकड़े noun phrase को modify करते हैं:

"the achievements we celebrate (R)" — यहाँ "we celebrate" एक relative clause है जो "the achievements" को modify करता है।

इस पहचान से तुम्हें पता चलता है कि R खुद एक complete noun phrase है — यह Subject की भूमिका निभा सकता है।

अभ्यास-आधारित pattern जो CDS में बार-बार आता है

| Pattern | Anchor | Opening signal | |---|---|---| | Subject + appositive + Verb + Object | Subject वाला | Proper noun या "the + noun" | | "Although ... they ..." | "although" वाला | Subordinate conjunction | | "One of the ... is ..." | "one of" वाला | Quantifier | | "... distinguish ... along two axes ..." | Verb वाला | Main clause |

शॉर्टकट और युक्तियाँ

patternAnchor-First विधि

सबसे पहले वह टुकड़ा खोजो जिसमें Subject + Finite Verb दोनों हों — यही anchor है। उसे पहले रखो, फिर बाकी को जोड़ो।

उदाहरण: "extraction of minerals in India (S) is possible only after the (Q)..." — यहाँ S में subject है ("extraction of minerals in India") और Q में finite verb है ("is possible") — तो S-Q पहले आएगा।

Standard method: चारों विकल्पों को पूरा पढ़ना = 60-70 सेकंड। Anchor method: सीधे anchor पहचानना और उसका option चुनना = 20-25 सेकंड।

eliminationConjunction Elimination

जो टुकड़ा "and", "but", "or", "although", "as", "since" से शुरू हो — वह कभी पहला नहीं हो सकता। उसे opening position से eliminate करो।

उदाहरण: "although most social movements (Q)" — Q पहला नहीं होगा। सीधे वे options eliminate करो जो Q को पहले रखते हैं।

इससे 4 options में से 1-2 तुरंत कट जाते हैं। Step count: standard = 4 options पूरे पढ़ो; elimination = पहले letter देखो और 1-2 options 5 सेकंड में हटाओ।

patternIncomplete Phrase Chaining

जो टुकड़ा किसी phrase को अधूरा छोड़ता है — "to give voice to the demands (P)" — उसके तुरंत बाद वह टुकड़ा आएगा जो उसे पूरा करे — "and needs of the people (S)"।

चेकलिस्ट: preposition के बाद noun? article "the" के बाद noun? conjunction "and" के बाद parallel structure? इन्हें जोड़ी में पहचानो।

यह technique appositive और complement वाले प्रश्नों में 4-step solution को 2-step में बदल देती है।

patternEnd-Piece पहचान

जो टुकड़ा grammatically किसी के बाद नहीं जा सकता — यानी जो एक complete noun phrase या clause पर खत्म होता है — वह last piece है।

उदाहरण: "sociological study of peasant movements in India (Q)" — यह एक complete noun phrase है, कोई connector नहीं, कोई incomplete preposition नहीं। तो Q आखिर में आएगा।

Standard: सभी combinations try करो। End-piece पहचान: last piece fix करो, बाकी options automatically 50% कम हो जाते हैं।

substitutionAppositive Bridge Test

अगर लगे कि कोई टुकड़ा appositive है, तो mentally उसे हटाकर बाकी वाक्य पढ़ो। अगर वाक्य अभी भी grammatically सही है, तो वह appositive है और Subject + Verb के बीच आएगा।

उदाहरण: "the automobile industry [one of the largest industries] has witnessed impressive growth" — brackets हटाने पर "the automobile industry has witnessed impressive growth" — सही है। तो Q (appositive) P और S के बीच आएगा।

यह test 10 सेकंड में एक टुकड़े की position confirm कर देता है।

तेज़-समाधान रूपरेखा

परीक्षा हॉल में यह sequence follow करो — हर step पर एक decision:

Step 1 — Conjunction scan (5 सेकंड): P, Q, R, S में से जो "and", "but", "although", "or", "as" से शुरू हो — उसे opening से eliminate करो।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2025
Rearrange P, Q, R, S to form a coherent sentence: P: considered to be paradigmatic / Q: sociological study of peasant movements in India / R: the Telangana peasant revolt against the Nizam of Hyderabad in the 1940s is often / S: and the only instance worthy of attention in a comparative
  1. R Q S P
  2. R Q P S
  3. R P S Q
  4. R S P Q
Solutionसमाधान
Reading the parts together: 'the Telangana peasant revolt against the Nizam of Hyderabad in the 1940s is often (R) considered to be paradigmatic (P) and the only instance worthy of attention in a comparative (S) sociological study of peasant movements in India (Q).' This produces a fluent, grammatically correct sentence. R introduces the subject and verb 'is often', P completes the predicate 'considered to be paradigmatic', S adds 'and the only instance worthy of attention in a comparative', and Q completes with the noun phrase 'sociological study of peasant movements in India'. Hence the correct order is R P S Q, option (c).

समाधान का रास्ता: R में "the Telangana peasant revolt... is often" — Subject + Finite Verb। R anchor है, पहले आएगा। P में "considered to be paradigmatic" — यह "is often" के बाद आने वाला complement है। S "and the only instance..." — यह P के parallel structure में है, conjunction "and" से जुड़ा। Q "sociological study of peasant movements" — यह "comparative" के बाद आने वाला noun है। क्रम: R → P → S → Q।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: "One of the major attributes" pattern — quantifier subject वाले वाक्यों में anchor पहचानना।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2025
Rearrange P, Q, R, S to form a coherent sentence: P: radical or limited change and whether they focus on / Q: along two axes, whether they seek / R: the entire society or on specific individuals / S: sociological theories distinguish social movements
  1. P R S Q
  2. Q S R P
  3. R P S Q
  4. S Q P R
Solutionसमाधान
Reading the parts: 'sociological theories distinguish social movements (S) along two axes, whether they seek (Q) radical or limited change and whether they focus on (P) the entire society or on specific individuals (R).' This forms a coherent sentence describing the two-axis classification of social movements. S sets up the subject and verb, Q introduces 'two axes', P gives the first axis, and R completes with the second axis. Hence the correct order is S Q P R, option (d).

समाधान का रास्ता: S में "sociological theories distinguish social movements" — Subject + Verb — anchor है। Q में "along two axes, whether they seek" — यह "distinguish" के बाद आने वाला adverbial phrase है। P में "radical or limited change and whether they focus on" — यह "whether they seek" के parallel में है। R में "the entire society or on specific individuals" — यह "focus on" का object है, complete phrase। क्रम: S → Q → P → R।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: "Although" conjunction — Conjunction Elimination technique का प्रत्यक्ष प्रयोग।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2025
Rearrange P, Q, R, S to form a coherent sentence: P: are more defensive than offensive and / Q: although most social movements / R: tend to be temporary, they / S: are important agents of social transformation
  1. P Q S R
  2. Q P R S
  3. S P Q R
  4. R S P Q
Solutionसमाधान
Reading the parts: 'although most social movements (Q) are more defensive than offensive and (P) tend to be temporary, they (R) are important agents of social transformation (S).' This yields a logical sentence. Q introduces 'although most social movements', P gives the first descriptive clause, R completes 'tend to be temporary, they', and S concludes with the main assertion. Hence the correct order is Q P R S, option (b).

समाधान का रास्ता: Q "although most social movements" — conjunction "although" से शुरू, पर यह subordinate clause है जो main clause से पहले आ सकता है। P "are more defensive than offensive and" — यह "social movements" का predicate है, Q के तुरंत बाद। R "tend to be temporary, they" — "and" के बाद parallel predicate, फिर "they" से main clause शुरू। S "are important agents of social transformation" — "they" का predicate, complete clause। क्रम: Q → P → R → S।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: Appositive Bridge Test — "one of the largest industries" एक appositive है।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2025
Rearrange P, Q, R, S to form a coherent sentence: P: in India, the automobile industry / Q: one of the largest industries / R: growth during the last two decades / S: has witnessed impressive
  1. Q P S R
  2. S P R Q
  3. R Q S P
  4. P Q S R
Solutionसमाधान
Reading the parts: 'in India, the automobile industry (P) one of the largest industries (Q) has witnessed impressive (S) growth during the last two decades (R).' This forms a coherent sentence: 'In India, the automobile industry, one of the largest industries, has witnessed impressive growth during the last two decades.' P introduces the subject, Q is an appositive, S provides the verb phrase, and R completes the object. Hence the correct order is P Q S R, option (d).

समाधान का रास्ता: P "in India, the automobile industry" — Location + Subject, anchor। Q "one of the largest industries" — appositive, P के बाद, Verb से पहले। S "has witnessed impressive" — Finite Verb, Q के बाद। R "growth during the last two decades" — Object, S को complete करता है। Test: "the automobile industry has witnessed impressive growth" — Q हटाने पर भी सही। क्रम: P → Q → S → R।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: Incomplete Phrase Chaining — "to give voice to the demands (P)" को "and needs (S)" complete करता है।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2025
Rearrange P, Q, R, S to form a coherent sentence: P: was formed in 1870 to give voice to the demands / Q: in western India, the Sarvajanik Sabha / R: and all classes of people were its members / S: and needs of the people
  1. Q P R S
  2. P Q S R
  3. Q P S R
  4. R P S Q
Solutionसमाधान
Reading the parts: 'in western India, the Sarvajanik Sabha (Q) was formed in 1870 to give voice to the demands (P) and needs of the people (S) and all classes of people were its members (R).' This forms a coherent sentence about the Sarvajanik Sabha's formation, purpose, and membership. Q introduces the subject, P gives the formation and purpose, S completes 'demands and needs of the people', and R adds the membership detail. Hence the correct order is Q P S R, option (c).

समाधान का रास्ता: Q "in western India, the Sarvajanik Sabha" — Location + Subject, anchor। P "was formed in 1870 to give voice to the demands" — Finite Verb + incomplete phrase ("demands" of what?)। S "and needs of the people" — P की incomplete phrase को complete करता है। R "and all classes of people were its members" — additional information, complete clause, end-piece। क्रम: Q → P → S → R।
