CDS अंग्रेज़ी: वाक्य क्रम एवं पैराजम्बल — सम्पूर्ण रणनीति

intermediate 18 min read

1. Pronoun-Antecedent Chain

यह सबसे reliable hook है। जब कोई वाक्य pronoun से शुरू हो, तो उसका antecedent (जिस noun की जगह pronoun आया) तुरंत पहले वाले वाक्य में होना चाहिए।

उदाहरण: "S logically follows describing these lords as chief tenants" — यहाँ "these lords" का reference S1 में "Norman nobles" है। इसलिए S सीधे S1 के बाद आता है।

नियम: अगर किसी वाक्य में पहला शब्द "They / It / This / He / She / These / Those / Such" है और S1 में उसका antecedent है — तो वह वाक्य सबसे पहले आएगा।

2. Discourse Markers का वर्गीकरण

| Marker | संकेत | पहले क्या आएगा | |---|---|---| | However / But / Yet | विरोध | एक positive statement | | Therefore / Thus / Hence / Consequently | निष्कर्ष | कारण/तथ्य | | Moreover / Furthermore / In addition | जोड़ना | पिछला point | | In fact / Indeed / Actually | जोर देना | एक claim | | For instance / For example | उदाहरण | एक general statement | | Since then / As a result / Thus | कालक्रम/परिणाम | पहले की घटना |

3. Article का संकेत: a/an vs the

इसलिए अगर कोई वाक्य "the silk industry" कहता है, तो उससे पहले कहीं "silk" या "silk industry" का पहला mention आ चुका होगा। CDS के passages में यह pattern consistently काम करता है।

4. Chronological Sequencing

ऐतिहासिक passages में — जो CDS में बहुत आते हैं — timeline को follow करो। जब multiple time markers हों, उन्हें पहले arrange करो:

"introduced in 1800s → Since then it spread → 2020 estimate" — यह एक clear arrow है।

5. General → Specific → Conclusion का structure

अधिकतर academic paragraphs इस pattern पर चलते हैं:

जब दो sentences में से कौन पहले आएगा, यह तय न हो — देखो कौन ज़्यादा broad है। Broader statement पहले।

CDS-specific Pattern: "P goes after Q because..."

CDS के paragraphs में एक विशेष pattern है — एक वाक्य कोई claim करता है, अगला उसे qualify या explain करता है। देखो:

"Q: It had been politically stable since the seventeenth century..." "P: Stability meant that the Kingdom had common laws..."

patternEcho Word Connector

जब कोई वाक्य किसी पिछले वाक्य के keyword को synonymously repeat करे — वह तुरंत बाद आता है।

उदाहरण: "Q: politically stable" → "P: Stability meant..." — यहाँ "Stability" = "politically stable" का echo है।

कैसे use करें: हर वाक्य का पहला noun/adjective note करो, देखो वह पिछले किस वाक्य के keyword से match करता है।

Speed gain: बिना पूरा paragraph पढ़े 2 sentences की pair बन जाती है — standard method में 4-5 complete readings vs इसमें 2 targeted readings।

patternPronoun Lock-in

जो वाक्य "They / It / This / These / Such" से शुरू हो — उसका antecedent तुरंत पहले वाले वाक्य में ढूंढो। यह 80% cases में correct linkage देता है।

उदाहरण: "S: This was because it imported luxury goods like silk..." — यहाँ "This" S1 के "rich" को refer करता है। इसलिए S सीधे S1 के बाद।

Speed gain: Standard approach में सभी combinations try करते हैं (24 options for 4 sentences) — Pronoun Lock-in से first sentence तय हो जाता है, combinations 6 तक घट जाते हैं।

eliminationDiscourse Marker Pair Matching

"However / But" = विरोध → पहले positive statement ढूंढो। "Therefore / Consequently / Thus" = निष्कर्ष → पहले कारण ढूंढो। "In fact / Indeed" = intensifier → पहले एक weaker claim ढूंढो।

उदाहरण: "P: However, paying for these imports with gold and silver strained the economy..." — "However" बताता है S में कुछ positive था (imports luxury goods), P उसका negative consequence है।

Speed gain: Discourse marker देखते ही उसके pair का type पता चल जाता है — 4 sentences में से 1 को immediately lock करो, possibilities 6 से 2 रह जाती हैं।

eliminationS6 Backward Anchor

S6 (fixed conclusion) से पीछे चलो — S6 क्या कहता है? उससे तुरंत पहले कौन सा internal sentence सबसे naturally lead करेगा?

उदाहरण: S6: "Thus, feudalism went beyond economic aspects to cover social and political aspects." — इससे पहले वाला वाक्य ज़रूर political/social aspect introduce करेगा। R: "They also had judicial control over the peasants" — judicial = political/social। इसलिए R last internal sentence है।

Speed gain: Forward sequence + Backward anchor = middle pair automatically confirm हो जाती है। 3 sentences place हो जाते हैं, 4th automatically आता है।

patternTimeline Arrow for History Passages

ऐतिहासिक CDS passages में date/century markers को पहले extract करो और chronological order बनाओ।

उदाहरण: "introduced in 1800s (R)" → "Since then, spread (P)" → "2020 estimate (S)" → "Research also shows (Q)" — यह RPSQ है, और यही correct answer है।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2026
S1: The word science originates from the Latin verb Scientia meaning "to know". S6: By the middle of the twentieth century, science had become a truly international enterprise, with many cultures and countries contributing to its rapid growth. P: Science, in a broad sense, is as old as the human species. Q: From the sixteenth century onwards, great strides were also made in science in Europe. R: The early civilisations of Egypt, India, China, Greece, Mesopotamia and many others made vital contributions to its progress. S: The Sanskrit word Vijñāna and the Arabic word Ilm convey a similar meaning, namely knowledge.
  1. QPRS
  2. SPRQ
  3. SQRP
  4. SQPR
Solutionसमाधान
The logical sequence is: S1 introduces the Latin origin of 'science'. S (Sanskrit and Arabic equivalents) naturally follows, extending the etymology discussion to other languages. P broadens the scope by noting science is as old as humanity. R provides historical examples (early civilizations contributed to it). Q then advances chronologically to the sixteenth century European developments, leading naturally to S6 about the twentieth century. Hence SPRQ is correct.

समाधान का रास्ता: S1 में "Latin verb Scientia" है। अब P, Q, R, S में से S में "Sanskrit word Vijñāna and Arabic word Ilm" है — यह Latin etymology को extend कर रहा है other languages में। Echo: "Latin → Sanskrit → Arabic" = language family discussion। इसलिए S first। फिर P ("science is as old as human species") broad statement है। R उसके examples देता है (early civilizations)। Q chronologically advances करता है (sixteenth century)। S6 twentieth century पर end करता है। SPRQ confirmed।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: "Stability meant..." वाला Echo Word trap। अगर Q और P की order उलटी लगाओ तो भी superficially logical लगती है — यही CDS का असली difficulty point है।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2026
S1: Britain was the first country to experience modern industrialisation. S6: This gave people a wider choice of ways to spend their earnings and expanded the market for the sale of goods. P: Stability meant that the Kingdom had common laws, a single currency and a market that was not fragmented by local authorities levying taxes on goods that passed through their area, thus increasing their price. Q: It had been politically stable since the seventeenth century, with England, Wales and Scotland unified under a monarchy. R: By the end of the seventeenth century, money was widely used as the medium of exchange. S: As a consequence, a large section of the people received their income in the form of wages and salaries, rather than in goods.
  1. QPRS
  2. QPSR
  3. SQRP
  4. SQPR
Solutionसमाधान
The logical flow is: S1 states Britain industrialised first. Q explains it had been politically stable since the 17th century (introducing the cause of stability). P elaborates on what this stability meant (common laws, currency, unfragmented market). R then introduces the role of money as the medium of exchange by the end of the 17th century. S follows as a consequence — people earning wages and salaries. This leads to S6 about wider choices in spending. Hence QPRS is correct.

समाधान का रास्ता: S1: Britain industrialized first। Q: "politically stable since 17th century" — यह S1 का immediate explanation है (क्यों Britain first था)। P: "Stability meant..." — "Stability" directly Q के "politically stable" को echo करता है। इसलिए P तुरंत Q के बाद। R: "By end of 17th century, money widely used" — यह नया development है। S: "As a consequence..." — "consequence" R के effect को indicate करता है। QPRS confirmed।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: Feudal hierarchy का cascading structure — lords → knights → peasants। यह sequence तुम्हें समझना है, रटना नहीं।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2026
S1: William I had the land mapped, and distributed it in sections to one hundred eighty Norman nobles who had migrated with him to Britain. S6: Thus, Anglo-Saxon peasants became tenants of various levels of landholders. P: They could not, however, use their knights for private warfare, which was forbidden in England. Q: They soon began to gift some of their own lands to knights who would serve them just as they in turn served the king. R: They were obliged to supply a certain number of knights to the king. S: These noble lords became the chief tenants of the king and were expected to give him military help.
  1. PRQS
  2. PSQR
  3. SQRP
  4. SRQP
Solutionसमाधान
After S1 (William distributing land to nobles), S logically follows describing these lords as chief tenants giving military help. R elaborates the military obligation (supplying knights to the king). Q describes how these nobles in turn gifted land to knights. P then adds the restriction that knights couldn't be used for private warfare. This leads to S6 about Anglo-Saxon peasants becoming tenants at various levels. Hence SRQP is correct.

समाधान का रास्ता: S1: William distributes land to 180 nobles। S: "These noble lords became chief tenants" — "These noble lords" S1 के "Norman nobles" का echo है। R: "obliged to supply knights" — यह S के military help को specify करता है। Q: "began to gift lands to knights" — अब lords अपने नीचे knights को land देते हैं, यह R के बाद logical step है। P: "However, they could not use knights for private warfare" — "However" Q के gifting को restrict करता है। SRQP confirmed।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: "In fact" marker का use — यह intensifier है जो पिछले claim को और strong बनाता है। इसे "moreover" समझने की गलती मत करना।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2026
S1: In an economic sense, feudalism refers to a kind of system of agricultural production. S6: Thus, feudalism went beyond economic aspects to cover the social and political aspects of life as well. P: In fact, the latter cultivated their own land as well as that of the lord. Q: It is based on the relationship between lords and peasants, who worked on the former's land. R: They also had judicial control over the peasants. S: The peasants also performed other labour for the lords, who in exchange provided military protection.
  1. QPSR
  2. QSPR
  3. SRQP
  4. SQPR
Solutionसमाधान
Following S1 (feudalism as agricultural production system), Q introduces the lord-peasant relationship. P elaborates on this — peasants cultivated their own and the lord's land. S adds that peasants also performed labour for military protection. R extends to lords having judicial control over peasants, bringing in the political/social aspects. This leads naturally to S6 about feudalism covering social and political aspects. Hence QPSR is correct.

समाधान का रास्ता: S1: feudalism = agricultural production system। Q: "lords and peasants, who worked on the former's land" — "former's land" = lord's land, यह S1 की direct elaboration है। P: "In fact, the latter cultivated their own land as well as that of the lord" — "In fact" Q को intensify करता है, "the latter" = peasants (Q में mention)। S: "also performed other labour... military protection" — "also" adds another duty। R: "judicial control over peasants" — यह judicial = social/political aspect है जो S6 की तरफ lead करता है। QPSR confirmed।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: "However" का exact placement — यह trap है। P में "However" है जो एक positive claim के बाद आना चाहिए। S में luxury imports हैं (positive/cause), इसलिए P उसके बाद।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2026
S1: The Japanese empire was considered rich. S6: Soon, other developments such as the increased use of money and the creation of a stock market in rice show that the economy was developing in new ways. P: However, paying for these imports with gold and silver strained the economy and led the Tokugawa to put restrictions on the export of precious metals. Q: Over time, the silk from Nishijin came to be known as the best in the world. R: They also took steps to develop the silk industry in Nishijin in Kyoto so as to reduce imports. S: This was because it imported luxury goods like silk from China and textiles from India.
  1. QPSR
  2. QSPR
  3. SPRQ
  4. SQPR
Solutionसमाधान
S1 states Japan was considered rich. S explains this was because Japan imported luxury goods like silk and textiles. P then introduces the problem — paying with gold/silver strained the economy, leading to export restrictions. R describes the solution — developing the silk industry in Nishijin to reduce imports. Q follows that Nishijin silk became best in the world. This leads to S6 about further economic developments. Hence SPRQ is correct.

समाधान का रास्ता: S1: Japan was rich। S: "because it imported luxury goods like silk" — "This was because" S1 के "rich" को explain करता है। P: "However, paying for imports strained economy" — "However" S की positive picture को contradict करता है। R: "took steps to develop silk industry in Nishijin" — यह P की problem का solution है। Q: "silk from Nishijin came to be known as best in world" — यह R के effort का outcome है। SPRQ confirmed।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: Physics passage में cause-effect chain — "why seasoned cricketer is better" का explanation। Q→S→P→R एक perfect reasoning chain बनाता है।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2026
S1: A seasoned cricketer catches a cricket ball coming in with great speed far more easily than a novice, who can hurt his hands in the act. S6: The conclusion is clear: force not only depends on the change in momentum, but also on how fast the change is brought about. P: The novice, on the other hand, keeps his hands fixed and tries to catch the ball almost instantly. Q: One reason is that the seasoned cricketer allows a longer time for his hands to stop the ball. R: Consequently, he needs to provide a much greater force to stop the ball instantly, and this hurts. S: He does this by drawing his hands backward in the act of catching the ball.
  1. RSQP
  2. QPSR
  3. RPSQ
  4. QSPR
Solutionसमाधान
After S1 (seasoned cricketer vs novice), Q gives the reason — seasoned cricketer allows longer time. S explains how — by drawing hands backward. P contrasts with the novice keeping hands fixed. R explains the consequence for the novice — needing greater force, which hurts. This leads naturally to S6's conclusion about force depending on change in momentum and time. Hence QSPR is correct.

समाधान का रास्ता: S1: seasoned vs novice cricketer। Q: "One reason is that seasoned cricketer allows longer time" — "One reason" S1 के contrast को explain करना शुरू करता है। S: "He does this by drawing hands backward" — "He does this" Q के "allows longer time" को explain करता है। P: "The novice, on the other hand, keeps hands fixed" — "on the other hand" contrast marker है, novice को introduce करता है। R: "Consequently, he needs greater force, hurts" — "Consequently" P के action का result है। QSPR confirmed।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: "This is not because..." वाला structure — यह denial pattern है जो एक assumption के बाद आता है। S में Japan का example आता है, Q उसकी misconception को correct करता है।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2026
S1: People fall down from staircases in different ways in different countries. S6: This is because for the Americans, their home is usually the only place where they regularly use the stairs. P: They rely, instead, on the ease and safety of lifts and escalators which are ubiquitous in such places. Q: This is not because the Japanese are more reckless staircase users, but simply because Americans don't much use the stairs in public places. R: Staircase injuries, therefore, happen mostly in the home. S: For instance, someone in Japan is far more likely to be hurt in a staircase fall in an office, department store or railway station than is anyone in the United States.
  1. QPRS
  2. SPQR
  3. SQRP
  4. SQPR
Solutionसमाधान
S1 introduces variation in falls across countries. S gives a specific example — Japan vs US. Q explains why this is the case (Americans don't use stairs in public). P elaborates — they use lifts and escalators instead. R concludes that injuries happen mostly at home. This leads to S6 about American homes being their only stair-use location. Hence SQPR is correct.

समाधान का रास्ता: S1: countries में staircase falls अलग-अलग होते हैं। S: "someone in Japan is far more likely to be hurt in office/station than US" — यह S1 का specific example है। Q: "This is not because Japanese are more reckless..." — "This" S के observation को refer करता है, misconception correct करता है। P: "They rely on lifts and escalators" — "They" = Americans (Q में mention), यह Q के explanation को elaborate करता है। R: "Staircase injuries happen mostly in the home" — यह P का logical conclusion है (public stairs नहीं use करते → home injuries)। SQPR confirmed।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: Timeline Arrow का perfect case — R (1800s), P (since then), S (2020), Q (research also shows)। Dates यहाँ directly sequence दे रही हैं।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2026
S1: The lantana plant is not native to India. S6: However, eradicating lantana is a long and arduous process which can only be carried out with a lot of technical expertise and financial commitment. P: Since then, it has spread over six lakh square kilometres, covering fifty percent of the country's natural areas. Q: Research also shows that the lantana has invaded most pasture lands in the country. R: It was introduced in the country as an ornamental plant by the British in the 1800s. S: A 2020 estimate by researchers shows that the plant occupies forty percent of forests, including tiger reserves.
  1. QSRP
  2. RPSQ
  3. RQSP
  4. SQPR
Solutionसमाधान
S1 states lantana is not native. R logically follows — it was introduced by the British in the 1800s. P continues — since then, it has spread widely. S provides a specific 2020 estimate of 40% of forests. Q adds research showing it has invaded most pasture lands. This leads to S6 about the difficulty of eradication. Hence RPSQ is correct.

समाधान का रास्ता: S1: lantana not native to India। R: "introduced by British in 1800s" — यह S1 का direct explanation है (अगर native नहीं, तो कब आया?)। P: "Since then, it has spread over six lakh sq km" — "Since then" R के 1800s को refer करता है। S: "2020 estimate — 40% of forests" — यह P की spreading का specific data point है। Q: "Research also shows — invaded pasture lands" — "also shows" S के data के बाद additional finding है। RPSQ confirmed।
