IBPS PO अंग्रेज़ी के लिए त्रुटि पहचान — व्याकरण की सबसे ज़रूरी तकनीक

intermediate 18 min read

अवधारणा

त्रुटि पहचान (Error Spotting) में तुम्हें एक वाक्य दिया जाता है जिसे चार भागों में बाँटा होता है — (A), (B), (C), (D) — और तुम्हें वह भाग चुनना होता है जिसमें व्याकरण की गलती है। सुनने में आसान लगता है, पर IBPS PO में यही section सबसे ज़्यादा marks गँवाता है।

क्यों? क्योंकि वाक्य को पढ़ने पर वह सही लगता है। Examiners उन्हीं गलतियों को चुनते हैं जो बोलचाल में आम हो गई हैं — जैसे "police has arrested" या "despite of his efforts"।

Each / Every / One of का नियम:

यह "One of those + plural noun + who" वाला pattern बेहद tricky है। बहुत लोग "believes" लिखते हैं क्योंकि "one" singular लगता है। पर "who" का antecedent "people" है, "one" नहीं।

Collective Nouns:

Data, News, Information:

2. Preposition की गलतियाँ — fixed phrases सीखो

कुछ adjectives के साथ preposition fixed होते हैं। बोलचाल में हम गलत preposition इस्तेमाल करते हैं, और यही गलती paper में आती है।

| गलत | सही | |-----|-----| | Senior than | Senior to | | Junior than | Junior to | | Superior than | Superior to | | Inferior than | Inferior to | | Prior than | Prior to | | Preferable than | Preferable to |

Despite vs In spite of:

3. Fractions और Numbers का सही रूप

जब fraction को शब्दों में लिखो:

4. Relative Pronouns और Antecedent Agreement

"Who", "which", "that" के बाद आने वाली verb उनके antecedent (जिस noun को वे refer करते हैं) पर depend करती है।

"One of those" और "The only one of those" में अंतर है — दूसरे में "only" की वजह से singular verb आती है।

शॉर्टकट और युक्तियाँ

patternVerb-Finder तकनीक

जैसे ही प्रश्न पढ़ो, सबसे पहले verb को underline करो। फिर उसका असली subject ढूंढो — subject और verb के बीच के phrase को bracket में डाल दो और ignore करो। यह एक काम 3 steps को eliminate कर देता है।

उदाहरण: "The quality of the products are poor" → products को bracket में डालो → subject = "quality" (singular) → "are" गलत है, "is" होना चाहिए।

Standard method: पूरा वाक्य 3-4 बार पढ़ना = 45 सेकंड। Verb-Finder = 15 सेकंड।

patternLatin-Origin Adjectives की list

Senior, Junior, Superior, Inferior, Prior, Preferable, Anterior, Posterior — ये सब Latin-origin comparative adjectives हैं। इनके साथ हमेशा "to" आता है, कभी "than" नहीं

एक वाक्य याद करो: "She Jumped Super In Park Pretty Angrily Past" (Senior, Junior, Superior, Inferior, Prior, Preferable, Anterior, Posterior)

जब भी इनमें से कोई शब्द दिखे और साथ में "than" हो — सीधे Part A/B mark करो जहाँ यह phrase है। Verification में 5 सेकंड, standard method में 20 सेकंड।

eliminationDespite-of Trap

"Despite of" हमेशा गलत है — कोई exception नहीं। "In spite of" हमेशा सही है।

Test: क्या तुम "Despite of" को "In spite of" से replace कर सकते हो? हाँ — तो "Despite of" में "of" हटाओ। क्या तुम "In spite" को "Despite" से replace कर सकते हो? हाँ — तो "of" हटाना पड़ेगा।

जब भी "despite" के बाद "of" दिखे — वह part automatically गलत है। 3 seconds में answer।

patternPolice-Cattle-Clergy Plural Test

इन nouns की एक list याद करो जो हमेशा plural verb लेते हैं: Police, Cattle, People, Clergy, Gentry, Poultry, Vermin.

Test: क्या noun के साथ "has/is/was" आया है? अगर noun इस list में है — गलती मिल गई।

उदाहरण: "The police has" → गलत → "The police have" ✓ Step count: Standard grammar check = 4 steps। List-based elimination = 1 step।

eliminationEach/Every Singular Lock

जब भी sentence में "Each", "Every", "Everyone", "Everybody", "Either", "Neither" (अकेले, बिना nor/or के) आए — verb हमेशा singular होती है।

"Each of the students have" → "have" गलत → "has" ✓ "Every employee are responsible" → "are" गलत → "is" ✓

Check: Part B में verb plural है और Part A में "Each/Every" है? — Answer = Part B। Standard approach = 30 seconds। इस rule से = 8 seconds।

तेज़-समाधान रूपरेखा

परीक्षा हॉल में यह decision tree follow करो:

Step 1 — Verb ढूंढो (3 सेकंड): क्या verb singular है जहाँ plural होनी चाहिए, या plural है जहाँ singular? → Subject-Verb Agreement जाँचो।

Step 2 — Subject identify करो (5 सेकंड): Subject और verb के बीच के phrase को mentally हटाओ। असली subject क्या है?

Step 3 — Preposition जाँचो (5 सेकंड): क्या "despite of", "senior than", "inferior than", "preferable than" जैसा कुछ दिख रहा है? → वह part गलत है।

Step 4 — Fraction/Number जाँचो (3 सेकंड): Hyphen है? Denominator plural है (जब numerator > 1)? नहीं → गलती।

Step 5 — Relative Pronoun जाँचो (5 सेकंड): "One of those + plural noun + who" → who के बाद plural verb। "The only one of those + plural noun + who" → who के बाद singular verb।

"teacher" (singular) verb के पास है → "was" होना चाहिए, "were" नहीं। Part B में गलती।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न
The following sentence has been divided into four parts. One of them contains an error. Select the part that contains the error. (A) Neither the students nor / (B) the teacher were aware / (C) of the sudden change / (D) in the examination schedule.
  1. A
  2. B
  3. C
  4. D
Solutionसमाधान
The error is in part B. With 'neither...nor', the verb agrees with the noun closer to it. Since 'teacher' (singular) is closer to the verb, it should be 'was' instead of 'were'.
भाग B में त्रुटि है। 'Neither...nor' के साथ verb उस noun से agreement करता है जो verb के पास हो। चूंकि 'teacher' (singular) verb के पास है, इसलिए 'were' की जगह 'was' होना चाहिए।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: Latin-origin adjectives का "to" वाला नियम IBPS PO में fixed pattern है। "Senior than" एक बहुत आम बोलचाल की गलती है।

समाधान का रास्ता: "Senior" Latin-origin comparative adjective है। इसके साथ "than" नहीं, "to" आता है। "She is senior to me" सही है। Part A में "senior than" — यही गलती है।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न
The following sentence has been divided into four parts. One of them contains an error. Select the part that contains the error. (A) She is senior than me / (B) by five years but / (C) we work together / (D) very harmoniously.
  1. A
  2. B
  3. C
  4. D
Solutionसमाधान
The error is in part A. 'Senior than' is incorrect. The correct phrase is 'senior to'. Words like senior, junior, superior, inferior, prior, etc. take 'to' instead of 'than'.
भाग A में त्रुटि है। 'Senior than' गलत है। सही phrase 'senior to' है। Senior, junior, superior, inferior, prior जैसे शब्दों के साथ 'than' की जगह 'to' का प्रयोग होता है।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: "Each" के साथ plural verb एक classic IBPS PO trap है। यह प्रश्न directly "Each" का singular nature test करता है।

समाधान का रास्ता: "Each" singular distributive pronoun है। "Each of the students" → subject singular है → "has submitted" होना चाहिए, "have submitted" नहीं। Part B गलत।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न
The following sentence has been divided into four parts. One of them contains an error. Select the part that contains the error. (A) Each of the students / (B) have submitted their / (C) assignments well before / (D) the deadline.
  1. A
  2. B
  3. C
  4. D
Solutionसमाधान
The error is in part B. 'Each' is singular, so the verb should be 'has submitted' instead of 'have submitted'. Also, the pronoun should be 'his/her' instead of 'their', though 'their' is increasingly accepted in modern usage.
भाग B में त्रुटि है। 'Each' singular है, इसलिए verb 'has submitted' होना चाहिए 'have submitted' की जगह।

Part A में गलती।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न
The following sentence has been divided into four parts. One of them contains an error. Select the part that contains the error. (A) The data suggests that / (B) more than 60% of the population / (C) is still living below / (D) the poverty line.
  1. A
  2. B
  3. C
  4. D
Solutionसमाधान
The error is in part A. 'Data' is plural, so the verb should be 'suggest' instead of 'suggests'. However, in modern usage, 'data' is sometimes treated as singular, but the traditional rule treats it as plural.

"The police have arrested" सही है। Part A में "has arrested" → गलती।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न
The following sentence has been divided into four parts. One of them contains an error. Select the part that contains the error. (A) The police has arrested / (B) three suspects in connection / (C) with the bank robbery / (D) that occurred last week.
  1. A
  2. B
  3. C
  4. D
Solutionसमाधान
The error is in part A. 'Police' is a collective noun that takes a plural verb. Therefore, 'has arrested' should be 'have arrested'. Police is always treated as plural in English.
भाग A में त्रुटि है। 'Police' एक collective noun है जो plural verb लेता है। इसलिए 'has arrested' की जगह 'have arrested' होना चाहिए। Police को अंग्रेजी में हमेशा plural माना जाता है।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: Fractions को लिखने का नियम एक unusual topic है जो कभी-कभी IBPS PO में surprise के रूप में आता है।

समाधान का रास्ता: जब fraction शब्दों में लिखा जाए और numerator एक से अधिक हो, तो denominator plural होता है और hyphen लगता है। "Three-fourths" सही है, "three fourth" नहीं। Part D में गलती।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न
The following sentence has been divided into four parts. One of them contains an error. Select the part that contains the error. (A) The book which you gave me / (B) yesterday is very interesting / (C) and I have already read / (D) three fourth of it.
  1. A
  2. B
  3. C
  4. D
Solutionसमाधान
The error is in part D. 'Three fourth' should be 'three-fourths' (with hyphen and 's'). When writing fractions as words, we use hyphens and make the denominator plural when the numerator is more than one.
भाग D में त्रुटि है। 'Three fourth' की जगह 'three-fourths' (hyphen और 's' के साथ) होना चाहिए। Fractions को शब्दों में लिखते समय hyphen का प्रयोग करते हैं और जब numerator एक से अधिक हो तो denominator को plural करते हैं।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: "One of those + plural noun + who" pattern सबसे tricky Subject-Verb Agreement patterns में से एक है। यह high-difficulty प्रश्न है।

समाधान का रास्ता: "Who" का antecedent "people" (plural) है, "one" नहीं। इसलिए "who believe" होना चाहिए, "who believes" नहीं। Part B में "believes" → गलती।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न
The following sentence has been divided into four parts. One of them contains an error. Select the part that contains the error. (A) She is one of those people / (B) who believes that hard work / (C) and dedication can overcome / (D) any obstacle in life.
  1. A
  2. B
  3. C
  4. D
Solutionसमाधान
The error is in part B. 'Who believes' should be 'who believe'. In the construction 'one of those + plural noun + who', the verb after 'who' should be plural because it refers to the plural noun 'people'.
भाग B में त्रुटि है। 'Who believes' की जगह 'who believe' होना चाहिए। 'One of those + plural noun + who' की संरचना में, 'who' के बाद plural verb आता है क्योंकि यह plural noun 'people' को refer करता है।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: "Despite of" एक बहुत आम preposition error है। यह प्रश्न directly test करता है कि तुम "Despite" और "In spite of" का अंतर जानते हो या नहीं।

समाधान का रास्ता: "Despite" के बाद "of" नहीं आता। "Despite his busy schedule" या "In spite of his busy schedule" — दोनों सही हैं। "Despite of" गलत है। Part A में गलती।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न
The following sentence has been divided into four parts. One of them contains an error. Select the part that contains the error. (A) Despite of his busy schedule, / (B) he manages to find time / (C) for his family and / (D) personal interests.
  1. A
  2. B
  3. C
  4. D
Solutionसमाधान
The error is in part A. 'Despite of' is incorrect. The correct form is either 'Despite' (without 'of') or 'In spite of'. Despite is followed directly by a noun or gerund.
भाग A में त्रुटि है। 'Despite of' गलत है। सही रूप या तो 'Despite' (बिना 'of' के) या 'In spite of' है। Despite के बाद सीधे noun या gerund आता है।
