Alligation Rule

intermediate 18 min read

Alligation Rule का सार: सस्ती वस्तु की मात्रामहँगी वस्तु की मात्रा=महँगीमिश्रण का मूल्यमिश्रण का मूल्यसस्ती\frac{\text{सस्ती वस्तु की मात्रा}}{\text{महँगी वस्तु की मात्रा}} = \frac{\text{महँगी} - \text{मिश्रण का मूल्य}}{\text{मिश्रण का मूल्य} - \text{सस्ती}}

Alligation Rule —

    A (सस्ता)          B (महँगा)
       |                   |
      [a]                 [b]
        \                 /
         \               /
          [m] (मिश्रण)
         /               \
        /                 \
    (b - m)            (m - a)

A:B=(bm):(ma)A : B = (b - m) : (m - a)

A:B=(6045):(4540)=15:5=3:1A : B = (60 - 45) : (45 - 40) = 15 : 5 = 3 : 1

Replacement Problem —

उदाहरण: 100 लीटर दूध में से 20 लीटर निकालकर पानी डाला जाए, यह 3 बार हो: शेष दूध=100×(80100)3=100×0.512=51.2 लीटर\text{शेष दूध} = 100 \times \left(\frac{80}{100}\right)^3 = 100 \times 0.512 = 51.2 \text{ लीटर}

Challenge

  3. Cross diagram

CPmixture=SP×100100+profit%CP_{mixture} = \frac{SP \times 100}{100 + \text{profit}\%}

अब alligation: A=₹614, B=₹695, mixture=₹650।

दो Containers से Mixing

Fraction

फिर alligation: 231321=141321=121\frac{2}{3} - \frac{13}{21} = \frac{14-13}{21} = \frac{1}{21} और 132147=131221=121\frac{13}{21} - \frac{4}{7} = \frac{13-12}{21} = \frac{1}{21}

121:121=1:1\frac{1}{21} : \frac{1}{21} = 1:1

m=aw1+bw2+cw3w1+w2+w3m = \frac{a \cdot w_1 + b \cdot w_2 + c \cdot w_3}{w_1 + w_2 + w_3}

जब "x बार mixture निकाला और x बार नया पदार्थ डाला" लिखा हो — formula है {शेष}=Total×(Total{निकाला}Total)n\text\{शेष\} = \text{Total} \times \left(\frac{\text{Total} - \text\{निकाला\}}{Total}\right)^n। Formula: 1 calculation।

Step 2 — Profit/Loss

Step 3 — Cross Diagram

Step 4 — Verify:

Previous Year Question
A 140 liters mixture contains 80 liters milk and the remaining is water. 25% mixture is removed and 19 liters of water is added. Find the final quantity of water.
  1. 66 lit
  2. 64 lit
  3. 54 lit
  4. 60 lit
Solution
Water = 60L. After removing 25% mixture, remaining water = 60×(3/4) = 45L. Adding 19L water gives final water = 45+19 = 64 litres.

Previous Year Question
35kg of a type of gram (type A) which costs ₹614 per kg was mixed with certain amount of another type of gram (type B), which costs ₹695 per kg. Then the mixture was sold at ₹767 per kg and 18% profit was gained. What was the amount of type B in the mixture?
  1. 24 kg
  2. 28 kg
  3. 36 kg
  4. 32 kg
Solution
Cost price of mixture = 767×100/118 = ₹650/kg. Using alligation with CP of A=614, B=695, mixture CP=650: ratio of A:B = (695-650):(650-614) = 45:36 = 5:4. So B = 35×(4/5) = 28 kg.

Previous Year Question
In a pot, the ratio of water and alcohol is 4 : 3. In another pot, the ratio of water and alcohol is 2 : 1. In what ratio mixture should be taken from both mixtures to make final mixture so that in final mixture the ratio of water and alcohol be 13 : 8?
  1. 1:1
  2. 3:2
  3. 5:2
  4. 4:3
Solution
Water fraction in mixture 1 = 4/7, in mixture 2 = 2/3, and desired = 13/21. Using alligation: (2/3 - 13/21):(13/21 - 4/7) = (1/21):(1/21) = 1:1. So the ratio is 1:1.
