SSC CHSL क्लोज़ टेस्ट — संदर्भ आधारित रिक्त स्थान भरने की सम्पूर्ण रणनीति

intermediate 18 min read

उदाहरण: "Houses, chairs, and toys __________ from wood" — यहाँ subject plural है, wood से बनाने की बात हो रही है (passive meaning), इसलिए are made सही है।

उदाहरण: "teach each other to stop causing harm to __________" — passage पेड़ों और पर्यावरण पर है, इसलिए nature सही है। environment भी possible लग सकता है, पर यदि options में themselves, adjectives, और verbs हैं तो grammar filter से ही nature (noun) बचता है।

Passive Voice — क्लोज़ टेस्ट का सबसे बड़ा trap

SSC CHSL में passive voice के blanks बहुत आते हैं। Pattern याद करो:

Subject+be (is/are/was/were)+past participle+by+agent (optional)\text{Subject} + \text{be (is/are/was/were)} + \text{past participle} + \text{by} + \text{agent (optional)}

Passive के blanks में तीन common errors होती हैं:

  1. made की जगह are made — helping verb छोड़ देना
  2. are making डाल देना — active voice दे देना जबकि context passive माँग रहा है
  3. were made डालना — tense गलत होना (passage present tense में है)

Rule: जब subject चीज़ें हों और action उन पर हो रही हो (वे खुद नहीं कर रहीं), तब passive लगाओ।

Modal Verbs का चुनाव

Modals में confusion सबसे ज़्यादा होती है — should, must, can, would, may सब similar लगते हैं।

| Context | सही Modal | |---|---| | सिफ़ारिश / सलाह | should | | कड़ी ज़रूरत / obligation | must | | क्षमता / ability | can | | संभावना (uncertain) | may / might | | विनम्र अनुरोध | would |

"We __________ cutting trees to save nature" — यहाँ context सलाह दे रहा है (recommendation), इसलिए should stop सही है। must stop ज़्यादा forceful होता और passage का tone उतना कठोर नहीं है।

Vocabulary Blanks में क्या देखें

जब blank में vocabulary word आए:

शॉर्टकट और युक्तियाँ

patternPassive Voice की तुरंत पहचान

जब रिक्त स्थान के बाद from, by, with जैसे prepositions आएँ और subject निर्जीव (inanimate) हो, तो तुरंत passive voice की जाँच करो।

Micro-example: "Houses __ from wood" — subject (Houses) निर्जीव, बाद में from — passive signal। Options scan करो, are made चुनो।

Standard method: चारों options पढ़ो, हर एक mentally fit करो — 40 seconds। Shortcut: Passive signal देखते ही be + past participle वाला option ढूँढो — 10 seconds।

patternPreposition के लिए Collocation Chain

Preposition blank देखते ही blank के दोनों तरफ के शब्दों की जोड़ी बनाओ: verb + preposition या preposition + noun

Micro-example: "grown __ trees" — grown on (fixed collocation, fruits grow ON trees), grown in, grown from, grown by — सब गलत।

Step comparison: Without this — चारों test करो (4 steps). With this — collocation याद है तो सीधे on (1 step)।

eliminationModal का Tone Test

Modal verb blank में पहले options को ताक़त के क्रम में रखो: must > should > may > can > would। फिर passage का tone देखो — gentle सलाह है या कड़ी चेतावनी?

Micro-example: "We __ stop cutting trees" — पर्यावरण पर सामान्य passage, gentle recommendation = should। अगर passage में "strict law" की बात होती तो must

Standard method: Context re-read करो, सभी modals try करो — 35 seconds। Tone test: tone का एक शब्द में label करो, सीधे modal चुनो — 12 seconds।

eliminationPart of Speech Filter — पहला काम

Vocabulary blank में सबसे पहले blank की grammatical position तय करो — determiner के बाद noun आता है, be के बाद adjective या noun, verb के बाद adverb।

Micro-example: "causing harm to __" — to के बाद noun चाहिए। Options में यदि adjective या verb form हो, तो eliminate करो — 1-2 options तुरंत खारिज।

Step comparison: Without filter — 4 options context से check करो (4 steps). With filter — grammar से 2 eliminate, context से 1 चुनो (2 steps)।

substitutionPassage की Central Theme — Last Resort

जब सब filters लगाने के बाद भी 2 options बचें, तो passage का एक-शब्द theme याद करो और उसी दिशा में जाने वाला option चुनो।

Micro-example: Passage theme = environment/conservation। Blank = "causing harm to __"। बचे options: nature vs earth। दोनों noun हैं, दोनों fit करते हैं। लेकिन passage में trees, save, plant जैसे शब्द हैं जो nature के साथ stronger collocation रखते हैं।

Step comparison: Random guess — 50% accuracy। Theme-based substitution — 80%+ accuracy, 8 seconds।

Decision rule: Grammar → Collocation → Context। इस क्रम को उलटा मत करो। Context पहले लगाने से time waste होता है और गलतियाँ बढ़ती हैं।

हल किए गए PYQs

क्यों यह प्रश्न: Passive voice का classic SSC CHSL pattern — subject निर्जीव, action उस पर हो रही है।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2024
Select the most appropriate option to fill in blank number 2. Trees also give us wood and shade. Houses, chairs, and toys (2) __________ from wood we receive from trees.
  1. was make
  2. had make
  3. are made
  4. will made
Solutionसमाधान
'Are made' is the correct passive voice construction in the present tense, indicating that houses, chairs, and toys are currently made from wood. The other options are grammatically incorrect forms.

समाधान का रास्ता: Subject Houses, chairs, and toys — plural, निर्जीव। from wood — passive signal। Blank में are made (be + past participle, plural subject) सही है। made अकेला चलेगा नहीं — helping verb are ज़रूरी है। Tense present है क्योंकि passage present facts बता रहा है।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: Preposition collocation — "grown __ trees" यह SSC में बार-बार आने वाला pattern है।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2024
Select the most appropriate option to fill in blank number 3. Trees can be called the best friends of mankind. Many animals get their food from leaves, vegetables, and fruits grown (3) __________ trees.
  1. on
  2. out
  3. of
  4. for
Solutionसमाधान
The preposition 'on' is correct here because fruits and vegetables are grown on trees. The other prepositions do not collocate properly with 'grown' in this context.

समाधान का रास्ता: fruits grown __ treeson trees fixed collocation है। Fruits और vegetables हमेशा on trees उगते हैं। in trees, from trees, by trees — तीनों collocate नहीं करते। Grammar और collocation दोनों से on confirm होता है।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: Modal verb का सही चुनाव — recommendation vs obligation का अंतर।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2024
Select the most appropriate option to fill in blank number 4. They also live in the shadows of trees. We (4) __________ cutting trees to save nature.
  1. may stopped
  2. can stopped
  3. have stop
  4. should stop
Solutionसमाधान
'Should stop' is the grammatically correct modal verb phrase here, expressing a recommendation or obligation. The other options pair modal verbs incorrectly with past participle forms.

समाधान का रास्ता: "We __ cutting trees to save nature" — stop के साथ modal चाहिए। Passage का tone gentle environmental advice है, कड़ी law नहीं। इसलिए should stop सही है। Common trap: should stopped या must stopshould stopped grammatically गलत है (modal + base form चाहिए, stopped नहीं); must stop possible है पर passage का tone should माँगता है।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: Vocabulary + Part of Speech filter — nature vs बाकी options।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2024
Select the most appropriate option to fill in blank number 5. Children and adults need to plant more trees and teach each other to stop causing harm to (5) __________ . One tree can save many lives.
  1. nurture
  2. nature
  3. nurturing
  4. natural
Solutionसमाधान
'Nature' is the correct noun that fits the context of the passage, which discusses environmental conservation and the importance of trees. The other options are either adjectives or verb forms that don't fit grammatically.

समाधान का रास्ता: "causing harm to __" — to के बाद noun चाहिए। Options में अगर adjective या verb form हैं, वे eliminate होते हैं। nature noun है और passage का theme environment/conservation है — double confirmation।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: एक ही blank में multiple words — हर शब्द का अलग-अलग logic, SSC 2022 का complex pattern।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2022
In the following passage, some words have been deleted. Read the passage carefully and select the most appropriate option to fill in each blank. When we believe that our mind is thinking ______ thoughts at the same time, what actually is happening is that ______ thoughts are ______ in such quick ______ so as to seem simultaneous.
  1. uniform, countable, altering, ramification
  2. homogenous, measurable, unchanging, velocity
  3. multiple, myriad, alternating, succession
  4. challenging, limited, fixed, interruption
Solutionसमाधान
The passage describes the phenomenon of seemingly simultaneous thoughts; 'multiple' thoughts, 'myriad' in number, 'alternating' rapidly in quick 'succession' best completes the meaning coherently.

समाधान का रास्ता: यहाँ चारों blanks एक साथ एक option में आते हैं। हर शब्द देखो:

in quick succession — यह collocation याद हो तो option instantly मिलता है।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: distinguishing vs similar-looking options — participle adjective का प्रयोग।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2022
Select the most appropriate option to fill in blank number 1. Competition is a necessary prospect for (96) ______ individuals with particular qualities...
  1. distinguished
  2. distinguishes
  3. distinguishing
  4. distinguish
Solutionसमाधान
'Distinguishing' is used as a participle adjective here, modifying 'individuals' — meaning individuals who are set apart by particular qualities.

समाधान का रास्ता: "prospect for __ individuals with particular qualities" — blank के बाद individuals (noun) है, इसलिए blank में adjective चाहिए। distinguishing — participle adjective, meaning "जो विशेष गुणों से पहचाने जाते हों।" Context: competition + particular qualities = distinguishing individuals।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: Idiom — put one's mind to work SSC में बार-बार आता है।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2022
Select the most appropriate option to fill in blank number 2. ...but only those who can (97) ______ their minds to work, work hard every day...
  1. divert
  2. get
  3. made
  4. put
Solutionसमाधान
'Put' their minds to work is the idiomatic expression meaning to focus and apply one's mental effort, which fits the context of working hard every day.

समाधान का रास्ता: "those who can __ their minds to work" — यह put one's mind to work idiom है, meaning किसी काम में पूरी मानसिक शक्ति लगाना। अन्य options (जैसे set, bring, make) इस idiom में fit नहीं करते। Idiom की direct knowledge ज़रूरी है।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: overcome vs win/defeat — subtlety of meaning, common vocabulary trap।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न2022
Select the most appropriate option to fill in blank number 3. ...prove themselves will be able to (98) ______ this arduous battle.
  1. overcome
  2. overload
  3. overpaid
  4. overjoyed
Solutionसमाधान
'Overcome' means to succeed in dealing with a problem or difficulty, which fits the context of winning an arduous battle through effort.

समाधान का रास्ता: "able to __ this arduous battle" — overcome a battle/challenge fixed collocation है। win a battle भी possible लगता है लेकिन overcome का अर्थ है — कठिनाई से गुज़रकर सफल होना, जो इस context में (hard work + proving oneself) बेहतर fits करता है। Collocation + context दोनों overcome की तरफ point करते हैं।
