SSC CHSL के लिए वाक्य सुधार — व्याकरण के नियम और परीक्षा-रणनीति

intermediate 18 min read

1: good → better → best | bad → worse → worst | many/much → more → most — ये irregular हैं, formula से नहीं बनते।

नियम 2: Comparative के साथ than आता है, from नहीं।

नियम 3: Skills और subjects के साथ preposition at लगता है, in नहीं।

एक वाक्य में तीनों गलतियाँ एक साथ हो सकती हैं: "She is more good in Mathematics from her sister." — यहाँ more good → better, in → at, from → than तीनों सुधार चाहिए।

Category 2: Since बनाम For

यह नियम सरल है लेकिन 5 में से 2 questions में यही गलती रहती है।

| since | for | |---|---| | Point of time (एक निश्चित समय-बिंदु) | Duration (अवधि) | | since Monday, since 2019, since morning | for two hours, for five years, for a week |

परखने का तरीका: अगर समय के साथ "से लेकर अब तक कितना" पूछ सकते हो — वहाँ for लगेगा। अगर "कब से" पूछ सकते हो — वहाँ since लगेगा।

Category 3: Tell, Say, Speak, Ask — Reporting Verbs

tell के बाद सीधे object आता है:

say के बाद object नहीं, या say to someone लिखते हैं:

ask के साथ indirect question में that नहीं आता जब question word पहले से मौजूद हो:

और indirect questions में word order statement जैसा होता है — where I was going, न कि where was I going

Category 4: Subject-Verb Agreement के tricky cases

Each, Every, Either, Neither, Anyone, Everyone — ये singular distributive pronouns हैं। इनके बाद हमेशा singular verb आएगी, चाहे noun plural हो।

Collective Nouns जैसे committee, jury, team, government, board, class — जब पूरा group एक unit की तरह काम करे, तब singular verb:

अगर members में मतभेद हो या अलग-अलग actions हों, तब plural verb — लेकिन SSC CHSL में यह distinction शायद ही पूछा जाता है। Default rule: collective noun + singular verb = safe choice।

Uncountable Nouns — इनका plural नहीं बनता, singular verb लगती है:

| Uncountable (plural नहीं) | गलत plural form | |---|---| | scenery | ~~sceneries~~ | | information | ~~informations~~ | | furniture | ~~furnitures~~ | | luggage | ~~luggages~~ | | advice | ~~advices~~ | | news | ~~newses~~ | | equipment | ~~equipments~~ |

The scenery of Kashmir is beautiful. — यहाँ scenery uncountable है, is सही है।

Category 5: Active बनाम Passive Infinitive

यह एक subtle लेकिन बार-बार आने वाला concept है।

नियम: जब subject खुद काम करने वाला हो, तो active infinitive (to do) लगाओ। जब काम subject पर होना हो, तो passive infinitive (to be done) लगाओ।

यह distinction तब और साफ़ होता है जब तुम subject देखो: She + work to do = She will do the work। इसलिए active infinitive।

शॉर्टकट और युक्तियाँ

patternUnderline देखते ही Category पकड़ो

जैसे ही question में underlined part देखो, खुद से पूछो: यहाँ comparative है / preposition है / verb है / noun है? Category identify होते ही उस category का एक rule automatically trigger होगा। Category पकड़ने में 3 seconds, rule apply करने में 5 seconds — standard method जिसमें पूरे options पढ़कर सोचते हो: 40-50 seconds। यह pattern-first approach: 8-10 seconds।

उदाहरण: Underline में since five years दिखा → category = since/for → instantly for select करो।

eliminationTell/Say/Ask का फ़ार्मूला कार्ड

तीन rules तीन lines में याद करो:

  • Tell + person (no to) + thing: told me the story
  • Say + thing (no person) या say to + person: said that... / said to me
  • Ask + person + question word + statement order (no that): asked me where I was going

Options में जैसे ही told to me या asked me that where दिखे — तुरंत eliminate। Standard approach (सभी options पढ़ना): 35 seconds। यह elimination approach: 10 seconds — क्योंकि गलत option की पहली ही गलती पकड़ में आ जाती है।

patternEach/Every → Singular Lock

Each, Every, Either, Neither — इन्हें देखते ही दिमाग में lock लगाओ: अगला verb singular होगा, चाहे बीच में कितने भी plural nouns हों।

Each of the students [plural trap] → was (singular)। Options में were और are automatically eliminate। Standard method (grammar rule recall करना): 20-25 seconds।

Step count: standard (4 options evaluate) = 4 steps, shortcut = 1 step (plural form देखते ही eliminate)।

patternIndirect Question — 'That' निकालो, Order सीधा करो

Indirect questions में दो rules एक साथ apply होते हैं:

  1. Question word के पहले that नहीं आता।
  2. Word order statement जैसा होता है (I was going, न कि was I going)।

Options में that where या where was I दिखते ही eliminate। दोनों rules एक साथ check करो — 2 options immediately drop। Standard approach: 30 seconds। यह dual-check: 8 seconds।

तेज़-समाधान रूपरेखा

परीक्षा में जब Sentence Improvement का question सामने आए, यह sequence follow करो:

Step 1 — Underlined part scan करो (3 seconds): क्या है वहाँ? Verb है / Preposition है / Noun है / Conjunction है / Adjective है?

Step 2 — Category trigger

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न
Improve: 'She is good in Mathematics than her sister.'
  1. She is good in Mathematics than her sister.
  2. She is better at Mathematics than her sister.
  3. She is good at Mathematics than her sister.
  4. She is more good in Mathematics than her sister.
Solutionसमाधान
When making comparisons, 'good' becomes 'better' (comparative form). Also, we use 'good at' not 'good in' for subjects or skills.
तुलना करते समय 'good' का comparative form 'better' होता है। साथ ही subjects या skills के लिए 'good at' का प्रयोग होता है।

समाधान का रास्ता: Underline में good in...than देखते ही दो problems identify करो — (1) Comparison है इसलिए good → better, (2) Subject के साथ in → at। Option B दोनों सुधार एक साथ करता है।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: Active vs Passive Infinitive — यह concept 12th level पर subtle लगता है लेकिन CHSL में यह trap regularly आता है।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न
Choose the improvement: 'She has a lot of work to be done.'
  1. She has a lot of work to be done.
  2. She has a lot of work to do.
  3. She has a lot of work to doing.
  4. She has a lot of work for doing.
Solutionसमाधान
When the subject is the doer of the action, we use the active infinitive 'to do' rather than the passive 'to be done'. She will do the work herself.
जब subject स्वयं काम करने वाला हो, तो active infinitive 'to do' का प्रयोग होता है, passive 'to be done' का नहीं।

समाधान का रास्ता: Subject She है — She खुद काम करेगी। इसलिए to do (active infinitive) सही है। to be done तब होता जब काम She पर होना हो। Options C और D immediately wrong (to doing, for doing — grammar ही गलत)।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: Uncountable noun का plural — sceneries जैसी गलती candidates अक्सर सही मान लेते हैं।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न
Improve the sentence: 'The sceneries of Kashmir are beautiful.'
  1. The sceneries of Kashmir are beautiful.
  2. The scenery of Kashmir is beautiful.
  3. The sceneries of Kashmir is beautiful.
  4. The scenery of Kashmir are beautiful.
Solutionसमाधान
'Scenery' is an uncountable noun and doesn't have a plural form. It should be used as singular with 'is'. 'Sceneries' is incorrect.
'Scenery' एक uncountable noun है और इसका plural form नहीं होता। इसे singular के रूप में 'is' के साथ प्रयोग करना चाहिए।

समाधान का रास्ता: Scenery uncountable है — sceneries होता ही नहीं। इससे Options A और C eliminate। Option D में scenery...are है — singular noun, plural verb = गलत। Option B: scenery...is = सही।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: Tell के साथ to की गलती — reporting verbs की गलती बहुत common है।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न
Choose the correct sentence: 'He told to me the whole story.'
  1. He told to me the whole story.
  2. He told me the whole story.
  3. He said to me the whole story.
  4. He spoke to me the whole story.
Solutionसमाधान
The verb 'tell' is followed directly by the object without using 'to'. We say 'tell someone something', not 'tell to someone something'.
क्रिया 'tell' के बाद सीधे object आता है, 'to' का प्रयोग नहीं होता। हम 'tell someone something' कहते हैं।

समाधान का रास्ता: told to meto यहाँ unnecessary है। Tell directly object लेता है। Option C (said to me the whole story) grammatically odd है — say से a story नहीं कहते, tell से कहते हैं। Option B सीधा और correct है।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: Indirect speech में that + question word का double trap — यह CHSL में highest frequency वाला indirect speech error है।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न
Select the correct form: 'He asked me that where I was going.'
  1. He asked me that where I was going.
  2. He asked me where I was going.
  3. He asked me that where was I going.
  4. He asked me where was I going.
Solutionसमाधान
In indirect questions with question words like 'where', we don't use 'that'. Also, the word order remains statement form, not question form.
Question words जैसे 'where' के साथ indirect questions में 'that' का प्रयोग नहीं होता। Word order भी statement form में रहता है।

समाधान का रास्ता: that wherewhere question word है, इसके पहले that नहीं लगता। Options A और C eliminate। Option D में where was I going — यह direct question order है, indirect में statement order चाहिए (where I was going)। Option B दोनों rules follow करता है।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: Since/For का confusion — duration के साथ since लगाना सबसे आम गलती है।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न
Improve the sentence: 'She has been working here since five years.'
  1. She has been working here since five years.
  2. She has been working here for five years.
  3. She has been working here from five years.
  4. She is working here since five years.
Solutionसमाधान
'Since' is used with a point of time, while 'for' is used with a period of time. 'Five years' is a duration, so 'for' should be used instead of 'since'.
'Since' का प्रयोग समय के बिंदु के लिए होता है, जबकि 'for' का प्रयोग समय की अवधि के लिए होता है। 'Five years' एक अवधि है।

समाधान का रास्ता: five years एक duration है, point of time नहीं। इसलिए since → for। Option C (from five years) grammar में है ही नहीं। Option D में tense भी बदल गया (is working) — Present Continuous से Perfect Continuous का meaning अलग है।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: Each + plural noun → singular verb — distributive pronouns का यह trap candidates को confuse करता है।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न
Select the improvement: 'Each of the students were given a prize.'
  1. Each of the students were given a prize.
  2. Each of the students was given a prize.
  3. Each of the student were given a prize.
  4. Each of the students are given a prize.
Solutionसमाधान
'Each' is always singular and takes a singular verb. Even though 'students' is plural, the subject 'each' requires 'was' not 'were'.
'Each' हमेशा singular होता है और singular verb लेता है। हालांकि 'students' plural है, subject 'each' के साथ 'was' का प्रयोग होगा।

समाधान का रास्ता: Each देखते ही — singular lock। students plural है पर subject Each है। was सही। Options A, C, D eliminate (were, were, are सब plural)।

क्यों यह प्रश्न: Collective noun + singular verb — committee have vs committee has का confusion।

Previous Year Questionपिछले वर्ष का प्रश्न
Improve the sentence: 'The committee have decided to postpone the meeting.'
  1. The committee have decided to postpone the meeting.
  2. The committee has decided to postpone the meeting.
  3. The committees have decided to postpone the meeting.
  4. The committee had decided to postpone the meeting.
Solutionसमाधान
Collective nouns like 'committee' are treated as singular when the group acts as one unit. Therefore, 'has' should be used instead of 'have'.
Collective nouns जैसे 'committee' को singular माना जाता है जब group एक unit की तरह काम करता है। इसलिए 'has' का प्रयोग होगा।

समाधान का रास्ता: Committee एक unit की तरह decision ले रहा है। Collective noun + unit action = singular verb = has। Option C में committees plural है — meaning बदल जाती है (एक नहीं, कई committees)। Option D में had — past perfect, context में ज़रूरत नहीं।
