"We will be crushed if..." — यह negative/warning tone है। इसलिए "civil disobedience" (एक आंदोलन जो सरकार के लिए चुनौती है) सही बैठता है।
Collocation: कुछ शब्द जोड़े में आते हैं — इन्हें collocations कहते हैं। "setback to" के साथ "clock" — "a setback to the clock" एक idiom है जिसका अर्थ है प्रगति को पीछे धकेलना। यह collocation याद रखो।
स्तर 3 — Elimination (जब दो options confusing हों)
मान लो दो options बचे हैं। तब देखो:
SSC GD में अक्सर ऐसे blanks होते हैं जहाँ दो-तीन options grammatically सही लगते हैं, पर सिर्फ एक ही "natural" लगता है। यह collocation का खेल है।
देखो कुछ important collocations:
| Blank से पहले | Blank में क्या आएगा | |---|---| | Article (a/an/the) | Noun | | Adjective | Noun | | Auxiliary verb (has been / was) | Verb का past participle | | Preposition (for, in, at) | Noun/Gerund | | "to" | Verb (infinitive) |
SSC GD 2023 में "The technique of (153) against it has been (154)" — यहाँ "of" के बाद gerund चाहिए, इसलिए "fighting" (not "fight")। और "has been" के बाद past participle चाहिए, इसलिए "learnt" (not "learn" या "learning")।
SSC GD 2023 में "We will be crushed" → blank में "disobedience" (threatening action), "complete" + negative context → "disaster" (not "success")। Tone detection से 2 options तुरंत eliminate होते हैं — 4 में से 2 हटे तो 50% काम हो गया।
कई बार blank के बाद आने वाली preposition ही सही शब्द बता देती है। "a ___ to the clock" — यहाँ "to" है। Collocations याद करो: "setback to" (सही), "obstacle to" (सही), "barrier to" (सही) — पर theme और tone से "setback" fit होगा। "wait ___ a year" — blank में "at least" / "for" / "until" — "wait at least a year" standard English है, "wait for a year" भी सही है पर "or more" के साथ "at least" ज़्यादा natural है।
"of/in/at/on + ___ing" — preposition के बाद हमेशा gerund (verb+ing) आता है। "The technique of fighting" — "of" के बाद "fighting" (gerund), न कि "fight" (base verb) या "to fight" (infinitive)। यह pure grammar rule है — no ambiguity. "has been ___" — auxiliary के बाद past participle: "has been learnt", न कि "learning" या "learn"।
समाधान का रास्ता: "We will be crushed if civil ___ is started" — blank से पहले "civil" है, बाद में "is started" (passive verb)। Civil के बाद आने वाले nouns: civil war, civil disobedience, civil unrest। Passage का theme — यदि यह आंदोलन शुरू हुआ तो हम crushed होंगे — यह warning है। "Civil disobedience" = सरकार के नियमों को शांतिपूर्वक तोड़ना — यही वह action है जिससे crushing का डर है। Grammar: noun चाहिए ✓, Collocation: "civil disobedience is started" ✓।
क्यों यह प्रश्न: Idiom और collocation का test — "a setback to the clock" एक fixed phrase है।
समाधान का रास्ता: "It will be a ___ to the clock" — "a" के बाद noun, "to" के बाद "the clock"। "Set back the clock" = प्रगति को पीछे करना। "A setback to..." standard collocation है। Tone: negative (पिछले वाक्य में "crushed" था)। Options में से "setback" ही negative + collocation दोनों fit करता है।
क्यों यह प्रश्न: एक वाक्य में दो blanks — grammar की double checking।
समाधान का रास्ता: "The technique of ___ against it" — "of" के बाद gerund चाहिए। Options में "fight" / "fighting" / "to fight" हों तो "fighting" ✓। "against it" = किसी चीज़ के खिलाफ लड़ना। Context: technique सीखी गई है — यह positive development है।
समाधान का रास्ता: "...has been ___" — "has been" के बाद past participle चाहिए। "learnt" = past participle of "learn" ✓। "learn" (base form) ✗। Meaning: technique सीखी जा चुकी है — यह present perfect passive है।
क्यों यह प्रश्न: Phrase completion — "at least" एक fixed adverbial phrase है जो minimum quantity दर्शाता है।
समाधान का रास्ता: "We may have to wait ___ a year or more" — "or more" signal करता है कि minimum एक साल। "At least a year or more" = कम से कम एक साल। "At least" ही वह phrase है जो minimum + "or more" के साथ natural है। "About" या "nearly" के साथ "or more" awkward होगा।
समाधान का रास्ता: "...for a suitable ___ to be created" — "suitable" के बाद noun। "Atmosphere to be created" = माहौल बनाया जाए। Collocation: "suitable atmosphere", "suitable environment", "suitable conditions"। Context: political movement के लिए सही समय का इंतज़ार — "atmosphere" (माहौल/परिस्थिति) सबसे fit।
क्यों यह प्रश्न: Collocation "hasty action" और "complete disaster" — दोनों fixed pairs हैं।
समाधान का रास्ता: "Any hasty ___ may result in..." — "hasty" के बाद noun। "Hasty action" = जल्दबाज़ी में उठाया कदम — यह standard collocation है। "Hasty decision" भी possible है पर context में "action" (physical/political act) ज़्यादा fit है। Grammar: noun ✓, Collocation: "hasty action" ✓।
समाधान का रास्ता: "...may result in complete ___" — "complete" के बाद noun जो very negative हो। "Complete disaster" = पूरी तरह बर्बादी — यह passage का concluding warning है। "Complete failure" भी possible है, पर "disaster" का level ज़्यादा extreme है और passage का tone throughout very serious/cautionary रहा है। Context signal: "result in" + "complete" = worst possible outcome।
हर blank अलग-अलग हल करना: सबसे common गलती। Blank (156) "atmosphere" को तुम तभी पकड़ पाओगे जब तुम्हें पता हो कि passage political movement की strategy के बारे में है। अकेले "for a suitable ___ to be created" देखोगे तो "opportunity" या "time" भी सही लगेगा।
Grammar ignore करना: "The technique of ___ against it" — यहाँ "fight" लिखना (gerund की जगह base form) — यह pure grammar mistake है जो passage समझने के बाद भी होती है। हर blank में grammar position ज़रूर check करो।
Positive context में negative शब्द भरना: Passage negative tone का हो तो सभी blanks negative नहीं होते। "The technique of fighting against it has been learnt" — यहाँ "learnt" positive है (हमने technique सीख ली)। Tone प्रत्येक वाक्य के level पर check करो, सिर्फ overall passage level पर नहीं।
Similar-meaning options में उलझना: "disaster" vs "failure" — दोनों negative हैं। यहाँ collocation काम आती है। "Complete disaster" ज़्यादा common fixed phrase है। जब दो options similar लगें तो हमेशा collocation check करो।
"at least" को दो अलग शब्द न मानना: Blank में "at least" एक phrase है — अगर options में "at", "least", "at least", "atleast" हों तो "at least" (दो शब्द, space के साथ) सही है। "Atleast" गलत spelling है।
पहले options पढ़ना, फिर sentence: यह उल्टा तरीका है। पहले sentence + context पढ़ो, अपना expected answer सोचो, फिर options में देखो कि तुम्हारे expected शब्द के सबसे करीब कौन सा है। इससे options तुम्हें confuse नहीं कर पाते।
