According to Ashokan inscriptions (particularly the Third Major Rock Edict), Pradeshika, Rajuka, and Yukta were officers associated with district-level administration in the Mauryan empire. Pradeshika was the head of district administration (similar to a District Magistrate), Rajuka was in charge of land surveys, revenue collection, and judicial matters in the district, and Yukta was a subordinate revenue officer who assisted in accounting and record-keeping. They were ordered by Ashoka to undertake tours (Anusamyana) every five years to spread Dhamma and inspect administration.
