'Naive theories' that children construct about various phenomenon

Children's naive theories or alternative conceptions should be respected as valuable starting points for learning and challenged through cognitive conflict by presenting counter-evidence and examples. This constructivist approach helps children examine their existing beliefs and gradually develop more accurate understandings. Ignoring, punishing, or trying to replace these theories through rote memorization is pedagogically ineffective and disregards children's active role in knowledge construction.
