Sanghabhuti was an Indian Buddhist monk belonging to the Sarvastivada school who travelled to China in the late fourth century AD (around 381 CE). He is known for translating and writing a commentary on the Sarvastivada Vinaya — the monastic disciplinary code of the Sarvastivada school of Buddhism. The Prajnaparamita Sutra is associated with Mahayana wisdom literature, the Visuddhimagga is by Buddhaghosa (Theravada, 5th century), and the Lalitavistara is a Mahayana biographical text on Buddha. Hence Sanghabhuti's commentary was on the Sarvastivada Vinaya.
