India has had several entries on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Chhau dance was inscribed in 2010. Kumbh Mela was inscribed in 2017. Durga Puja in Kolkata was inscribed in 2021. Garba of Gujarat was the most recent inclusion, inscribed in December 2023 during the 18th session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee held in Kasane, Botswana. Hence Garba dance is the latest among the four options.
