Which organization has enacted the Nature Restoration Law (NRL) to tackle climate change and biodiversity loss?

The Nature Restoration Law (NRL) is a landmark regulation enacted by the European Union in 2024. It is the first continent-wide, comprehensive law of its kind aimed at restoring degraded ecosystems across EU member states to tackle climate change and biodiversity loss. The law sets binding restoration targets covering at least 20% of the EU's land and sea areas by 2030, and all ecosystems in need of restoration by 2050. It is part of the European Green Deal and the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030.
