Who provided legal defence to the people arrested in the aftermath of Chauri Chaura incident?

After the Chauri Chaura incident of February 1922, where a crowd of protesters set fire to a police station killing 22 policemen, the British arrested 225 people and charged 172 with rioting and arson. Madan Mohan Malaviya, along with Krishna Kant Malaviya, provided legal defence to the accused. Their legal efforts resulted in the acquittal of many and reduction of sentences for others, saving several from the gallows in what was one of the most significant legal battles of the freedom struggle.
