Direction of Final Position — Which Quadrant?
Some questions ask: in which direction is the person from the starting point now? After finding net displacements, check the sign: if net is North and East, the person is in the North-East direction from start. If net is South and West, they are South-West from start. This is simpler than it sounds — just see which direction the end point lies relative to the start point on your diagram.
- North + East final position = North-East of start.
- South + West final position = South-West of start.
- Pure North only = directly North of start. No diagonal needed.
