Breaking News & Recent Appointments

Current affairs in SSC MTS also covers recent appointments of sports administrators, coaches, and team captains. This includes new coaches for Indian national teams, captaincy changes in cricket (Test, ODI, T20 separately), and major administrative shifts in sports bodies like BCCI or IOA. These questions test awareness of news from the past 6-12 months.

• Confusing Khel Ratna Award with Arjuna Award — Khel Ratna is for lifetime excellence, Arjuna is for 4-year consistency. Also, Khel Ratna was renamed to Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award in 2021.
• Mixing up cricket captains across formats — India has different captains for Test, ODI, and T20. A question asking 'Who is India's cricket captain?' is ambiguous and usually refers to ODI captain, but read carefully.

• Current affairs in SSC MTS is usually 'news from the past 18 months.' If taking the exam in 2024, focus on events from mid-2022 onwards. Older events are rarely asked unless they are landmark achievements.
• Watch out for 'first Indian' questions — 'First Indian to win X,' 'First Indian woman to achieve Y.' These are high-frequency PYQ patterns. Maintain a list of such firsts.
• Dates and years matter less than names and achievements. If asked 'Who won the 2023 World Cup?', the answer is the team name, not the date. But if asked 'In which year did India win the Cricket World Cup?', know it was 2011 (last time).
